MCAO's 2012 Annual Meeting/Conference will be in sunny Punta Cana!!!

BIM Seminar Being Offered on November 10th in Toronto

The National Research Council of Canada is hosting a series of Building Information Modeling (BIM) sessions across the Nation. Ontario will have both a Toronto date and a date in Ottawa. Please see the attached forms for exact dates, times and locations, as well as how to register.

NEW QC Manual Template Available!

In conjunctionwith TSSA, MCAO has developed a new/up to date Quality Control Manual for Boiler and Pressure Vessels. This template is available to member firms through a joint program whichentitles participants to a discount from TSSA on their Manual Renewal fees. Please contact MCAO for information on the cost of the template as well as the discount from TSSA.

  

IHSA Launches New “COR” Safety Program

 

The Infrastructure Health & Safety Association (IHSA) has launched a Certificate of Recognition (COR) Program which provides Construction Employers with an effective health and safety audit tool. Please see the attached Information and Registration Form, which outlines the benefits and training requirements for your organization.

  

Spotlight on OPIA

The Ontario Plumbing Inspectors Association Inc. (OPIA) is a non profit organization dedicated to protecting the health and well being of the Province of Ontario through safe plumbing. Their primary purpose is to promote the improvement of plumbing standards to insure protection of the environment, promote the advancement of knowledge concerning the safe installation of plumbing and to insure safe and adequate potable water systems in the Province of Ontario. The OPIA administers a Reciprocal Licencing program, a Provincial Standard Master Plumber Examination and a Provincial Standard Drain Contractor Examination for the benefit of Municipalities engaged in a Master Plumber and Drain Contractor licencing program.

 

Each year, the OPIA hosts a Conference which features:

-       Vendor/Supplier showcase which demonstrates new/innovative products

-       Their AGM which highlights the OPIA’s commitment and involvement with the Pipe Trades.

-       A “Round Table” session where delegates can have informal discussions on 4-6 topics such as changes to the Building Code and backflow prevention.

-       And educational seminars on specific plumbing issues such as Water Pipe Sizing and Wet Venting

 

We would like to encourage member firms to become members of OPIA and attend this conference as it provides valuable information for your employees. Please contact the OPIA directly for membership inquires and watch this space for announcements of their next conference.
